Jiawei Luo | PhD Candidate
My research interests focus on developing AI/ML algorithms for Biology, including disease diagnosis, single-cell technologies and language models. I am particularly intrigued by the application of language modeling techniques to address biological questions. Currently, I focus on developing DNA language model to predict cell-type specific gene expression🧬.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in software engineering from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and my master’s degree in computer technology from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen. Since the early stages of my academic journey as an undergraduate student, my passion has centered around the field of natural language processing. During my graduate studies, my research focus expanded to explore the intriguing intersection of language modeling and peptide discovery. These several experiences have ignited my passion for AI-driven biology research🤖, and I also enjoy the opportunities to engage in cross-disciplinary exploration.
Outside of my research, I enjoy various sports, particularly table tennis🏓, Badminton🏸, and tennis🎾. I also like hiking and taking walks🚶.
