Vitalii Kleshchevnikov | Bioinformatician shared with Bayraktar Group

I am interested in A) how cells activate correct genes across the entire organism and form cell-cell circuits, B) building causal & mechanistically motivated ML/AI models of those processes and C) programming cell and tissue states.

PhD @ Wellcome Sanger Institute with Dr Omer Bayraktar, Dr Oliver Stegle and Dr Sarah Teichmann. I development cell2location, a computational tool for spatially mapping cell types to understand their relationships in the organisation of human tissues. I then initiated and lead the work to dissect a DNA sequence code that underlies the specification of the immense diversity of cell types observed in human cell atlases. To this end, I work on developing cell2state, a mechanistic deep learning model that maps DNA sequence to function.

In the current bioinformatician role, I am combining cell2state DNA sequence model and large-scale single-cell multi-omics and spatial atlases to learn gene regulation & cell communication rules that underpin development.
